  • Hybrid – noun [high-briid]
    • A thing made by combining two different things.  As in:
      • The El Camino is a hybrid of a car and a truck.

This Day in History: 1958 – Chevrolet begins the sale of a car-truck hybrid called the El Camino, or “the way” in English.

Fact of the Day: Chevrolet discontinued the manufacturing of El Caminos in 1987.  The El Camino has become a cult classic.

Scaredy Cat: In 1231 AD, Pope Gregory IX  condemned all black cats in Europe and had them exterminated.  The lack of cats in Europe in consequent years caused a massive increase in rats, which spread the Black Plague, which in turn killed an estimated 200 million people, or 36% of the human population at the time.
