General Announcements @FMHighSchool:

  • Access Energy will be sponsoring two sophomore or junior students to go on a youth tour trip to Washington D.C. in June of 2017.  If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity please see Ms. Harter in guidance for an application.
  • Student government will be selling candy canes during lunch this week.  Candy canes are $0.50 and can be purchased at the student government table in the MPR.  Purchase one for yourself and send a few to your friends.
  • The library/media center will have its first drawing in the Iowa Teen Book Awards reading challenge tomorrow.  Be sure to get your name in the drawing.
  • The student government will be sponsoring an “ugly sweater” day tomorrow.

  • Au gratin potatoes w/ ham or chicken Alfredo;
  • Green beans and/or sweet potatoes;
  • Mixed fruit and/or Mandarin oranges.

Word of the Day:  Redeem – verb [reh-deem]

  • To use credit to purchase items.  As in:
    • I need to redeem my Christmas gift cards before they expire.

This Day in History:  1968 – Apollo 8, the first manned mission to the moon, is successfully launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida.  The spacecraft will make 10 lunar orbits of the moon before returning to Earth.


Fact of the Day:   The three Apollo 8 astronauts are the first human beings to view their home world in its entirety.  They were also the first human beings to see the dark side of the moon.
