Seniors is you are going to college in the fall will need to complete the FAFSA.  On February 20th at the West Burlington campus from  9:00 AM to 1:00 PM,  SCC will again be one of the 50 sights for Iowa “College Goal Sunday” (yes, these are Saturdays rather than Sundays).  College Goal Sunday is a program in which volunteers provide free, on-site assistance to families in filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, the federally required form for students seeking financial aid for college.  Members of the SCC Financial Aid Office staff, along with a volunteer from Iowa College Access Network, will be helping families complete the FAFSA in a one-on-one setting.  If you would like assistance with filing the FAFSA please plan on attending the event Saturday, February 20th, from 9 AM to 1 PM at the SCC West Burlington campus.  For more information see Mrs. Clark in guidance.

The Business Law class is holding an auction this coming Friday, January 22nd during your lunch periods. We will be auctioning off Prom dresses at REALLY good prices! Look for posters throughout the hallways with pictures of the dresses!

Iowa Safe Schools is sponsoring a conference for students on April 29th in Des Moines. The mission of the Annual Iowa Governors Conference on LGBTQ Youth is to a) engage and educate students, educators, parents, community leaders, youth-serving professionals, policy makers, and others concerned about issues relevant to the LGBTQ community, and b) encourage networking and activism to inspire our communities to promote diversity, equality, and social justice. Mrs. Kohl would like to take a group of interested students, parents, and/or teachers to this conference. Please see her if you would like to sign up. Deadline to sign up is March 20th. The cost is $30 for students and $70 for adults. Scholarships are available for students to help cover that cost. For more information, you can also visit www.iowasafeschools.org and click Governor’s Conference at the top of the page.
